  • Marital Bliss...:)

Life is good! God has been amazing and never stops showing me new and wonderful things in this life, as temporary as it may be.  The wedding went great! Thanks to all who could make it and for everyone who sent a gift, it was greatly appreciated and i feel very blessed.  All our needs are met and now God is showing us how and where to bless others with our blessings.
Tonight we took a stroll to the store 2 blocks away and I'm definitely enjoying city life.  Everyone is out on a nice warm night like tonight, and it's fun to meet people.  Tomorrow is Open Gate Ministry at the school.  On a nice night we might have 50 kids come out.  It's an awesome opportunity to impact young impressionable lives for Christ.  We have a good team of staff who are faithful in coming.  I'd say we have 10-15 young people from various churches who help.
We are finding our rhythm as married folk and it's the best thing to ever happen:)  I know Xanga use is dwindling but i'll try and put some pics of our new life on here sometime.  Untill then peace out, Serve Him!

  • Hello to all faithful (and not so faithful) Xanga supporters.  So much has happened I'm not quite sure what all to update.  Amy and I have been loving the engagement chapter of our lives.  Things have proven to be busier than ever.  I'm very happy to have settlement and getting a mortgage setup completed.  I hope I don't have to go through that again, buying a car is so much easier than buying a house!!  We've slowly started to get everything changed to the way we like it, which thankfully doesn't involve a lot.  A little painting here and there and redoing the bathroom is all we can handle right now.  It is lots of fun getting all the furniture together and were blessed to find a nice used bedroom set for pretty cheap, but still need to find family room furniture and a bunch of other odds and ends needed to live:)

The 'gulp' Bathroom, our biggest project!

    Our 'deck' and backyard

In other news, I finally had the opportunity to go up to Beaver Lake Camp / NYP in Canada.  We have a family, Jeff & Betty Lefever from our church serving up there so we took a week off and visited them. We also took a huge load of building supplies up and then did some demo work on the project building.  It was a lot of hard work, but we had a total blast!  The day we left we took some kayaks out on the creeks and silently glided through the cold morning in hopes of seeing some Moose and other wildlife.

    Our LARGE load!

So after 25 hours of driving, I get within 30 minutes of home and meet my wonderful fiance, and we drive to Harrisonburg VA with Josh & Monica for another 3-4 hours to meet my family for our annual motorcycle cabin weekend!  We tow all of our bikes down and basically ride Rt. 33 up and down the mountain on the WV - VA border, we also took in part of skyline drive which was beautiful.  It reminded me of Thailand...

    My two beastly brothers!

And having just gone through the Thanksgiving Season I was reminded how extremely blessed we are!  I was reminded how Amy wasn't around last Thanksgiving and how wonderful it is to be back together again after the longest year of my life!  I also am reminded of the many responsibilities I have and have I can bless others with them.
    My wonderful Family!

We are staying busy with Tuesday night Open Gate children's ministry and have a wonderful staff of young people willing to serve the Lord through teaching the rowdy city children.  It's a blessing in disguise, even after the most hectic of nights.
This weekend we are looking forward to attending Engaged Encounter with two other couples.  So it should be an interesting weekend of strengthening our relationship and relating to other couples going through the same things.
That's all I care to post for now, it would be great to hear from yal again.  It's always great to read those faithful posters.  Until next time, God Bless you.

P.S.  As a side note, here is an encredible video that was recently made aware to me.  It is an amazing picture of what Christ does for us.  I hope you are as moved as I was.

To put it mildly, a lot has happened in the past (almost) month since I've updated.  Now, I feel I've had an incredible life thus far, I've been very blessed to be able to experience many things.  Living in Asia for four months was one of those very incredible things, and snowboarding in Colorado, and road tripping the great West for a month with my best friends, and wake boarding in Canada, and being in Nicaragua twice, and the list goes on.  Now I have a news flash for ya, while all those things had their unique experiences and amazing people, this past month has beat them all!!
I AM ENGAGED!!  The excitement before and ever since has been immense, and i'm still learning to deal with:)  One morning I awoke at 4am, got a very tall glass of ice water, and pretty much laid in bed till 6 dreaming/scheming.  I've had many requests for the chain of events that led to my knee getting sandy, so I will briefly explain.  Early Saturday morning on September 1st I made the familiar drive into Reading, only this time I wasn't going to meet Amy, but her Dad.  We had a good breakfast, which I only ate 3 bites of.  When his approval was granted, I hurried off to work.  Late that afternoon I packed up the car, made "arrangements" with my parents to have the rose ready in the fridge, and headed back into Reading.  My parents were taking a four day weekend in Ocean City, MD and were to be 'dutifly' met by Amy & I along with Sheldon and Krista on Sunday.  We sang at an old people's home with Fairview youth group, then oddly, toured a house that was for sale:)  The owner had given Amy a key so we could go through it at our leisure.  Well we loved the house, and it was killin' me cause I knew we would probably be living here, and I was gonna ask her that night, and I couldn't say a word!  Anywayz we made our three hour trip to the beach without stopping once, and had a very pleasant time together.  We got to our ocean front room and pulled on my favorite black hoodie reading 'Cedar Point' from my bro's bachelor party, and stuffed a rose underneath, out of sight but definitely not out of mind!  We started our stroll hand in hand and came to a stop as far away as possible from the few fisherman and other couples on the beach after midnight.  So we stood there and I'm clueless how to initiate this thing they call proposing.  Suddenly, as a nudge from God, Amy spotted a beautiful falling star.  So I jumped at the circumstances and pulled out my rose, dropped to my knee and asked Amy Fox if she would marry me!!!

    She said Yes!!

So the big day is past, the big day that shared my Mom's 50th celebration of life.  The first week is almost behind us as well, and it's only now starting to really happen.  We bought a house!!!  It is wonderfully located across the street from Fairview Mennonite Church's playground, and two blocks from school were Amy is teaching this year.  The whole experience has been good, even down to signing the agreement of sale last night and ending up answering questions and sharing the love of Christ with the owners who were very interested in us as a couple buying a house, but not living in it until we were married.  By the way it's looking like a weekend in March, but we don't have a church yet so I won't confuse you with the exact date.  We would appreciate your prayers as we continue to plan, and thanks for the many emails and texts and calls.  One of these days I wanna post pics of the house for yal to see where we'll be living.

    Peace out,
           Huber

  • If Home Is Where the Heart Is, I'm in Pieces...

Yes, that title is original  It pretty much explains how I feel.  I am home, and much of my heart is here.  It was "utterly amazing" to walk around the corner dragging my painfully awaited bags, and be completely shocked to see my beautiful girlfriend Amy.  I totally knew she was going to be there, but after being apart for 8 months, there isn't much you can do to prepare yourself for actually being together again.  All my anxieties and fears disappeared the second I saw her, and a huge part of my life came running back to me.  My parents were also there, along with Phil & Becks family, Dave's family, and Christine's family.  It was a beautiful thing, but we were once again reminded of the times when we had to say goodbye to Arlin and Darrell.  Here is the east coast traveling team.

We began to get reacquainted on the bus ride back, and I had a relaxing afternoon with my family.  Mom had an awesome lunch of CORN ON THE COB!  I started unpacking, presented my gifts, and showed off my suit.  It was awesome to see my new neice Reese.  I couldn't ask for more, being with the two most beautiful girls in the world.

Then around 5 my friends started to filter in.  It was soo cool to see everybody again.  Thanks so much for coming, even if i was kinda out of it at the end there.  Our conversations cracked me up.  Instead of the normal what could we blow up, get muddy, or laugh at; we discussed interest rates on mortgages, cost of houses, and all that old people stuff.  I guess things have changed from the old days.  It's been awesome though.  Then,  the guys found out I had season 2 of Prison Break on my computer.  They started watching and I fell asleep.

So it's starting to feel a lil more like home now, my sleeping patterns are fairly normal, and I got to ride my cycle.  But part of my heart is no longer with me, it's half way across the world, in the beautiful country of Thailand, in the equally friendly city of Chaing Mai, a lil south on Hong Dong road, in Koolpunt Ville 5, in the building affectionately known as IGO.  I miss you guys like crazy, and my life will forever be changed because of you.  I will not forget the diverse places, poeple, and experiences we had together in Asia.  I am praying for everyone of you, and I hope to for a very long time.

For those staying on for another semester and those living there, God Bless you as you continue to grow and allow Him to work in and through your lives.  You have an amazing opportunity and responsibility, and i'm kinda jealous of you:)  Keep us updated about how God is working, and remember that we will meet again, that I'm sure of!
For those who came back to the states, we have equally challenging and exciting opportunities and responsibilities.  Personally I think the Asia family has it easier:) but we have so much support and the God who created it all and is our biggest fan as we seek Him and buidling His Kingdom.

Here are thre more pictures for free, lets make sure we keep in touch and keep encouraging each other to be strangers and pilgrims.
This was downright amazing! Saturday morning we were busy exchanging pictures and various other files.  13 people, 12 laptops.  LOOK WHO DOESN'T HAVE ONE!  It was breathtaking!

Saturday evening we had one last jam session, i'm gonna miss hearing guitar music bouncing off the walls in that loud building.  And the singing, wow...

Now there's a line that strikes fear in the hearts of any full grown man!  Watch out...
